The EDP network

The European Doctoral Programme in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management (EDP) was initiated within the European Council for Small Business (ECSB) by a group of fourteen universities leaded by Professor Dr. Josep M. Veciana of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), as member of the Council. Thus, the ECSB established a network of European universities and business schools that supported and contribute to the Programme.

The Programme is founded under ERASMUS/SOCRATES, which means that it may benefit from the usual grants for the reciprocal exchange of students and teachers and adopts a common curriculum (formal training courses, following Bologna guidelines) designed to fill a gap in the study of entrepreneurship in Europe.

The program is also a member of the European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration (EDAMBA), a forum founded in 1991 for cooperation among Doctoral (PhD) programmes of leading European Business Schools.

Over these years the programme has grown and provided doctoral training to over 182 participants from 52 countries. Several EDP participants expressed the desire to create and formalise an EDP Alumni Network. The EDP Alumni Network has been established in May 1999 during the 1st EDP workshop on Entrepreneurship Education at the Doctoral level.
